Are Temporary Tattoo Transfers Worth It?

You may be thinking of getting a tattoo, perhaps you’ve been thinking about it for a long time, but cannot make up your mind about your feminine tattoo design or where you want your tattoo to be on your body?

Perhaps you are scared that you may not like having a permanent tattoo at all. There is a way of testing out whether a tattoo design would suit you. Get a temporary tattoo and you can test drive the tattoo design for a couple of days or weeks (depending on what method you use).

This article takes a quick look at temporary tattoo transfers as a way of achieving your tattoo dreams, if only temporariliy.

What is a Temporary Tattoo Transfer

Remember when you were a kid, and bubble gum makers started to have those lickable transfers wrapped around the gum? Well this is what the temporary tattoo transfer is. The are applied by moistening the skin and applying pressure to the transfer so it literally sticks on the skin.

Temporary tattoo transfers don’t last very long. Airbrush and Henna temporary tattoos last much longer, but say you want to test loads of designs in the same area? Tattoo transfers are perfect for this. Once one has rubbed off, you can get another one and apply it to the same area a couple of days later.

How “Realistic” are Temporary Tattoo Transfers

To tell the truth, there is no substitute for the real thing. But don’t let that put you off trying out a tattoo transfer. Remember, you are not yet sure that you want a permanent tattoo. The point of the exercise is to try out something that looks approximately like the permanent tattoo that you think you want to have.

Think before you Ink

If you are thinking of getting a tattoo, be sure you spend time considering what you want. Tattoos are meant to be permanent. Tattoo removal is a long process (it can be expensive too especially if you go for laser tattoo removal). If you think you may want to remove a tattoo later, then don’t get one. Try out a temporary tattoo transfer first, it could help you make up your mind.

Temporary tattoos are a great “test vehicle” for permanents. They do allow you to try out the feel of a real tattoo and see if you’ll like it. However, you shouldn’t just look at temporary tattoos as being try-outs. Temporary tattoos are worth considering as ALTERNATIVES to the permanent option too. Temporary tattoos allow for a creative ebb and flow of design choices styles and colors. Your style of self-expression should be as dynamic as you are. Remember too, there are more options in the temporary tattoo world than transfers, check out painted on, henna, and airbrush tattoos.
